Why subscribe?

The media in America is awful. It exists to make a profit by giving away its content. How do they do that? By advertising. The subscription model here at Substack enables independent media to succeed by building an audience that will help pay for the content they want to read. On The Uptick provides incredible original content, video creations, and great writing about what makes America work. But we can’t do it without your help. We will never sell space to advertisers. It compromises too much for honest and real opinions about what is happening in the media we create and write. So we need the reader's help and support to make it work. By subscribing, you will get behind-the-scenes looks at the stories we are chasing down, plus the ability to chat with us in subscriber-only conversations. We will offer a lot for free here - but we do so in hopes that, as a paid subscriber, you see the value in the content we publish. We believe that we can be the kind of publication that lifts the conversation up instead of being in the mire of hyperventilation that most media has become. We think we can do that with reader support alone. We hope you like what we have to offer and will join us in showcasing the people who are making America work. We think we offer a good deal: you pay for a subscription, and we will do the hard work of real journalism. As always, anyone who subscribes will get access to our publication archives as well as any future content we create. Please join us and help tell the stories of who is “On The Uptick”
